Congrats on the purchase Otto! We found all of the decorations at the GoodWill and other thrift stores. Good luck with yours.

That is great! Do I detect that the outside was red and white? Or possibly red and shiny aluminum? Great find!

Hi labbiel,
It used to be cream and red then it was painted white and red with house paint. It’s mostly flaked off and we need to scrape it off completely before we have it painted. It’s a lot of work so we’ve been putting it off. Thanks!

I’ve had to good fortune to see Daisy in person a number of times. It really is the cutest little thing. Goodwill has been a treasure trove for Cheryl in her desire to decorate her. All sorts of period stuff. You just want to sit there and take it all in, there is so much to look at. Nice job Cheryl.

We bought a ’56 Westerner recently: we are almost done restoring it. It had a lot of water damage and we tore out a lot of the Luan paneling and replaced it, also had to replace the front window (the original one had been badly replaced with junk). We repainted the outside after sanding it and have re-upholstered everything, new curtains etc. Let me know if you need any hints, etc. Congrats on your find!

Hi, I saw Ann Howland’s post. I just bought a 57 Westerner to restore. I would be interested in connecting up to share advice and experiences so that I could learn from her efforts. Can I get her email address somehow?

Sincerely,

Rod Wylie

What a welcoming space. We’re headed the same direction restoring a ’64 Aladdin Magic Carpet. Love the muted vintage colors you’ve used. Thanks for the inspiration!

Hi all,
Purchased a 1957 Westerner from a neighbor who’s dad bought it new. When he passed on the family didn’t have the heart to sell it so my neighbor, (one of his children) said she would take it. Years and years after it sat in her dooryard I asked what she was going to do with it. She said nothing and she’d like to give it to me but if she “gave it away” her dad would roll over in his grave. She asked if I would be willing to give her $0000000 (not even going to say). I agreed….immediately. It’s MINT! So happy with this little rig but am thinking of selling it and building a cabin where the camper now sits. Anyway, just wanted to share.
